A group is a space on which you share information about a main subject (news related to a place, a profession, a theme, a project).

If you're a member of the platform, you can access all public and private groups from the groups directory.
As a member of the platform, you can access the content of all public groups. However, you'll have to request access to private groups.

A platform administrator can assign group administrators.
Group administrators are members of the platform with the same group management permissions as an administrator at the administration level.
When a member is assigned groups administrator, he or she has additional permissions at the administration level.

A group can be defined by 3 levels of confidentiality: public, private, secret. Depending on the level of confidentiality chosen when creating the group, the conditions of access aren't the same.
When creating a group, you must choose a level of confidentiality. However, you can change this level of confidentiality at any time, if needed.

Group creation is accessible to all members or to administrators only according to the rights defined by the administrator.
There are two ways to create a group:
From the Groups tab
From Administration (only for administrators)

To create a group, go to the Groups directory of your organization then click on + Create a Group.

A guest cannot leave a group. If there is only a group admin, he cannot leave the group.

Groups topics can be defined to classify groups.
This can be done from the Groups administration section, by clicking Manage topics.
When topics are created, the administrators or the groups admins can assign a topic to a group. This can be done either from the topics management page in the Groups administration section, or from the groups panel, Information & privacy.

Only platform administrators can see all the groups (whatever their privacy is) from the groups admin page which can be found from the admin menu > "Manage groups".
From this list, all the groups are displayed (except deleted groups).
2 warnings can be shown:
when a group has no administrator, a blue warning shows that a new admin has to be selected
when a group hasn't got any new activity since 6 months, a red warning is displayed

Depending on privileges defined by an administrator or group managers, the ability to invite new members to join a group is available to either all of a group's members (except guest users) or only to group managers.

Definition of the group administrator role:
A group administrator is a member who has additional rights related to a group. Among them:
the management of its members (invitations, deletions, group administrators),
management of publication permissions,
integration management,

Depending on the privileges defined by an administrator or group managers, the ability to manage labels is either available to all members, or restricted to group managers.
Labels are keywords formatted with the use of different colors which enable a specific meaning to be given to posts (e.g. a stage or a status).

Default groups
From their first connection, new members can join groups that you have pre-defined: default groups.
By default, all users join the General group (which has possibly been renamed in the first steps of your platform's creation).
This feature doesn't apply to guest users, who need to be specifically invited to join each group you wish to give them access to.
