The videoconference always opens via a web browser. Find more information on how to allow the microphone according to your web browser in this article.

The microphone allows you to speak and be heard during a videoconference.

In order to discuss with the participants of the videoconference, you need to authorize the microphone.

Otherwise, you won’t be able to access the room.

In general, and regardless of the browser you use, a pop-up window will open and give you the possibility to authorize the microphone on your computer.

A pop-up window on Google Chrome

Talkspirit video conferencing system is supported by a web browser. In this article, you’ll learn how to authorize the microphone when this message does not appear, on the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome,

  • Microsoft Edge,

  • Safari,

  • Mozilla Firefox.

Who can authorize the microphone?

All users of the platform can authorize the microphone during a videoconference.

How to authorize it?

On Google Chrome

On Google Chrome, you can authorize the microphone by clicking on Authorize in the window that appears.

If this window does not appear, you can access these settings in:

  • clicking on the padlock icon located on the very left of the url,

  • scrolling through the drop-down menu associated with Microphone,

  • then select Allow.

You can also make these settings by selecting Site Settings and then selecting Microphone > Allow.

On Safari

A window also opens by default on Safari. Here you can allow microphone recognition.

If this window doesn’t open, you can do this manually in:

  • clicking on the Safari tab on your computer,

  • selecting Settings for this website,

  • then click on Allow using the drop-down list associated with the Microphone.

On Microsoft Edge

When you connect to your room, a pop up showing the authorizations of the microphone and camera appears.

If this window does not appear, it is possible to access these settings in:

  • clicking on the padlock icon located on the very left of the url,

  • scrolling the drop-down menu associated with Microphone.

  • Then select Allow.

You can also make these settings by selecting Site Permissions and then selecting Microphone > Allow.

On Mozilla Firefox

As on other browsers, when you connect to a room, a microphone recognition pop-up opens on your computer.

If the pop up does not open, click on the crossed-out microphone icon located on the left of the video conference url and then :

  • click on Connection Secure,

  • select More Information,

  • select the Permissions tab,

  • Uncheck the Default Permissions option associated with Use the microphone,

  • Choose Allow.
